When Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Smith and Miss Annie M. Smith donated the land for Smith Elementary, they probably never imagined that over the course of four decades, Smith students would be recognized for their educational efforts with awards, accolades, and recognition year after year. Our greatest reward, however, is the knowledge that our students have gone on to become successful members of the community and business world. Since our doors opened in August of 1972, the Smith family has grown each year to include the students who have attended Smith and the alumni who have returned to become faculty and staff members.
